Hello,
I installed Visual Studio 2012 Express for Desktop 06/13/2013 (last week). It worked fine until today. Once the main page opens, after a few seconds, VS crashes, with the message: "Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 for Desktop stopped working"
(my software is in french; this is a translation). After, a window asks me either to "debug" or "close the program". It is needless to say that debug doesn't work.
I installed Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 ( https://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/visual-studio-update ) and run the program as an administrator, but my problem persists.
I've made various searches on Google, but have not been able to find something that could address my situation. I followed the steps given in this post ( http://blogs.riskotech.com/riskfactor/post/Visual-Studio-Crashes-on-Startup.aspx ), but don't have the
devenv.exe file, which is quite weird since it is mentioned in a couple of threads about VS.
I also have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 redistributable and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable (as well as 2 or 3 more similar versions), although I don't know how they ended up
on my hard drive.
Contrary to some users who had similar issues on the forum, I don't have to build a solution or open a project for VS to crash. It crashes at the opening, before I can do anything.
What puzzles me is that it worked well last week. In the meantine, I just installed windows updates (only .NET Framework 3.5.1 and 4.5 updates).
System info : Windows 7 starter edition, service pack 1, processor Intel(R) Atom (TM) CPU N450 @ 1.66 GHz 1.67 GH.
I'm currently running "repair" in wdexpress_full.exe, but I'm not sure it will work. If it doesn't work, what could I do?
Thanks.
