After reading many other posts about msvcr80.dll not found problems, mostly by developers, I manually checked all the folders in windows/winSxS folder pertaining to x86 vc80 and found two of the folders to be completely empty, the folder names are:
x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.5592_x-ww_179798c8
and
x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.5592_x-ww_3dcd24cb
My OS is winXP SP3 home edition and is fully updated.
I'm thinking these folders should not be empty and the vc80 module may be crashing because of this.
Also there are older versions of C++ and net frameworks on the machine as well, can they conflict?
Saving video in wmvHD format always worked well before a number of updates were done, some optional,
so I have no way of knowing which one(s) it may be. The same problem occurs in more than one program.
Is there a fix or patch, are the empty folders not a problem, or what should I try uninstalling and reinstalling
or uninstalling and not reinstalling. Is this problem only with the redistributable versions, etc.
Thanks for any and all help.
